Emma Isakoff, Pastry Chef
I graduated from Skidmore College with a BA in Psychology. My interest in criminal profiling lead me to New York City, where I worked towards becoming a lawyer... But I changed my mind! After two years in the city, I moved to Cambridge, MA and completed a Pastry and Baking program.
I’ve worked my way down the East coast starting at The Fearrington House, a Relais and Chateaux property in Pittsboro, North Carolina; then Charleston, SC; and most recently at The Colony Hotel on Palm Beach Island, Florida.
My passion for pastry comes from my grandmother Fay. Some of my favorite memories of my childhood take place in her tiny kitchen in Long Island, New York, licking the bowl clean of her famous chocolate chip banana cake batter. She taught me that the best way to make homemade pastries is by touching the ingredients and getting your hands dirty and, in my case, pretty much everything else!
I like to think my pastries are an extension of Fay and myself, or rather who I strive to be in life. When I walk into a bakery and smell fresh baked cookies I think of my grandmother. My hope is to bring that same delicious nostalgia to you!
